A festival dedicated to the humble, much maligned kebab will take place in East London on Saturday August 1, rather brilliantly titled Abra Kebabra.

Held in MC Motors in Dalston, it will bring together the wares of five would-be kebab kings in the form of chefs representing restaurants Chick’n Sours, Smokehouse, Mangal 1, Berber & Q and Lucky Chip.

The event will run from 3-11pm on the day, with tickets costing £25. This includes a kebab from each of the five restaurants taking part – they’re about half the size of a normal kebab, so don’t be perturbed – as well as one beer and one Turkitho, a 'Turkish-inspired mojito'.

There’ll be music as well as munching, with the Lucky Chip Soundsystem providing beats throughout the day.

Dalston bar Ruby’s will be selling cocktails – including that Turkitho – and there’ll also be beer from Camden Town Brewery and a wine matching bar, should you fancy your shish with a Chardonnay.

Tickets are available online now. If you want to get involved, doner delay – it would be a real pita if you missed out.
